Eirik has been vice president, regulatory affairs, bioenergy at bp since 2023. His role oversees the development of the company’s approach to bioenergy regulation and advocacy. Prior roles at bp include developing country strategies and leading bp’s approach to transport energy policy.
Before joining bp Eirik was a civil servant with the UK government, which included leading Whitehall’s part of the operation to repatriate 100,000 stranded Monarch passengers and developing the programme of analysis undertaken by the UK’s Airports Commission.
As a diplomat at the UK’s Representation to the EU in Brussels, he represented the UK in the various European institutions, negotiating legislation such as Aviation Emissions Trading and other climate-related dossiers. Many careers ago he was once a journalist.
