Sofia is currently senior manager, regulatory affairs for bioenergy at bp. She leads on all aspects of regulatory affairs for e-fuels and biofuels production projects focusing primarily on the European market, while also coordinating advocacy for our feedstocks businesses, working alongside with our midstream and trading businesses.

Sofia holds a chemical engineering degree with specialization in process design and refining, and a Masters in Process Systems Engineering. She joined bp as an Expert Technologist in 2018, working in bp’s Fuels Product Development team, and led several product development activities around low carbon fuel formulations in support of market offers.

Over the last 3 years, Sofia has worked in various transport and biofuels regulatory roles within bp’s technology and customers & products business, working closely with the business and our external affairs teams in Europe. Prior to joining bp, Sofia spent more than 10 years working for global vehicle manufacturer Ford, leading work on automotive fuels quality and its impact on engine and vehicle design. She engaged in technical advocacy through several years of OEM representation in European industry associations, fuel standardization bodies and EU institutions.
