Travel Alert - Train Strike on Wednesday, March 19
Regional and national train strikes are planned between 9:00–17:00. Which will affect routes to Malpensa (MXP) Airport, including the Malpensa Express.
Please check ahead on your onward route and allow plenty of extra time for travel.
Getting there
Milan is located in the north of Italy with great connections by plane, train and car from main Italian and international cities.
By Plane
Milan is served by three airports: Malpensa, Linate, and Bergamo Orio al Serio.
Malpensa Airport (MXP) is located 45 km from the city center. You can reach it from central Milanvia the Malpensa Express train, which departs from Cadorna, Milano Centrale, and Milano PortaGaribaldi stations.

Metro & Train
From/To Metro Station Portello next to Allianz MiCo
From Portello take the Purple line (5) to Garibaldi FS and walk 2min to Milano Porta Garibaldi Train Station and take the train MXP2 to Malpensa Airport.
This journey will take approximately 1 hour.
Bio-Europe Spring Airport Shuttle from MiCo to Malpensa Airport on Wednesday 19th March only 14:15–17:15 every 30 min this will take approximately 45min.In addition it will also depart at 16:00 & 16:30
Linate Airport (LIN) is just 7 km from the city center and is accessible via the M4 underground line.
Bergamo Orio al Serio Airport (BGY) is 50 km from the city center and can be reached by shuttle bus
services operated by various companies.
By Train
Milan is well-connected to major Italian and European cities via high-speed rail services provided by Trenitalia (Frecce and Intercity) and Italo. Milan’s primary train stations are:
Central Station FS (Piazza Duca d’Aosta): This is the main hub for international trains and is accessible via the M2 and M3 metro lines.
Porta Garibaldi FS Station (Piazza S. Freud): Connects with the M2 and M5 metro lines, facilitating travel across the city.
Cadorna FN Station (Piazzale Cadorna): Offers connections to the M1 and M2 metro lines, providing easy access to various city locations.
Rogoredo FS Station (Via Cassinis): Served by the M3 metro line, linking it to the city center and beyond.
For a seamless travel experience, Milan’s Central Station is the most significant railway hub, accommodating over 800 trains daily, including regional, EuroCity, intercity, and international services. From here, you can reach Turin in 45 minutes, Bologna in an hour, and Rome in under three hours with the high-speed Frecciarossa and Italo EVO trains. The station is integrated with the metro system, allowing easy transfers to other parts of the city.
By Car
Milan's extensive motorway system is a vital link for travelers and commerce, connecting the city not only within Italy but also to the broader European network.
The five major motorways, A4, A1, A7, A8, and A9, converge through the Milanese ring road, facilitating access to various parts of the country and continent.
The toll system is streamlined for efficiency, with options for electronic payment to expedite travel. Moreover, the tangenziali ring roads encircling Milan offer a mostly toll-free route, easing the flow around the city while the Area C charge (Monday to Friday, from 07:30 to 19:30) regulates traffic within the city to reduce congestion during peak hours.

By metro, tram and bus
Milan’s public transportation network, operated by ATM - Azienda Trasporti Milanesi, includes the metro, tram, and bus services.
The city boasts five underground lines: M1 (Red), M2 (Green), M3 (Yellow), M4 (Blue), and M5 (Lilac). The nearest Metro Stop for Allianz MiCo is Portello.

Bike sharing
Bikes are an eco-friendly and practical way to navigate the city.
Milano boasts approximately 144 kilometers (about 89.48 mi) of cycle paths and lanes, all on flat terrain, making it a haven for bicycle enthusiasts. Notably, adults are not required to wear helmets.
Milano offers convenient bike-sharing options through BIKEMI, which features fixed pick-up and drop-off stations, as well as free-floating bicycles that can be picked up via an app and parked along the roadside without designated parking areas. Several companies provide these services.
Car Sharing
Several companies in Milan offer car-sharing services with both electric and petrol vehicles. These services provide either fixed pick-up and drop-off points or free-floating stations, all bookable via an app.
Instructions for recharging electric cars are available on each rental company’s website, which also lists authorized recharging stations and the addresses of fixed stations equipped with electric charging columns.

By Taxi
Licensed taxicabs in Milan are white and typically do not pick up passengers from the street. They can be requested by phone, online, or at designated taxi ranks.
Fares are calculated using a meter or fixed rates for specific routes.
Bookings can be made via the Municipality’s Milano In Taxi app, available for iOS and Android, by calling the toll-free number +39 027777, or through the website www.taxi.comune.milano.it.
Also you can use apps like “Freenow”, “InTaxi” or “Uber”.
Accessible taxis for disabled passengers, identifiable by the Easy Taxi logo, are available, as well as car rentals with drivers specialized in transporting individuals with special needs.

Getting to the conference venue
To reach Allianz MiCo, Allianz MiCo, Central Building, Entrance via Gate 5, you can use the city’s efficient public transport system. Take the M5 metro line (Lilac Line) and get off at Portello station. From there, it’s a short walk to Viale Scarampo, where you’ll find Gate 5.
Alternatively, you can take bus lines 48, 57, 78, 90, or 91, which all have stops near the MiCo Milano Congressi. If you prefer the tram, line 19 stops at Viale Boezio, a short walk from the venue.
