Carlos F. de Sousa, MD, MBA, is a biopharma executive with more than 25 years of international leadership experience.He has served as CEO, President, COO, and senior business development leader across public and private life sciences companies.

His background spans executive management, business development, licensing, M&A, fundraising, corporate strategy, commercialization, and medical affairs. He has led organizations and transactions across Europe, the United States, Latin America, Australia, and Emerging Markets. Dr. de Sousa has held chief executive roles at Ultimovacs and Immunicum, and senior leadership positions at several biotechs, Takeda, Nycomed, Novartis, and Pfizer. He has raised significant growth capital, led strategic partnerships, and negotiated major licensing and commercial transactions. His therapeutic experience includes oncology, orphan diseases, respiratory, CNS, gastroenterology, and dermatology. He is recognized for combining strategic vision with strong execution, stakeholder alignment, and board-level leadership. Dr. de Sousa holds an MD from the University of Lisbon and an Executive MBA from NYU Stern School of Business. He has also completed executive education in board leadership and AI in health care. Based in Lisbon, he advises and leads with a global perspective on biopharma growth, innovation, and value creation.
