Cathy Yelf was the CEO of the UK Macular Society for 10 years. The Society funds medical research into macular conditions, offers support and information for people with macular disease and campaigns for better access to care. She is currently the Chair of Action Against AMD, a collaboration that seeks to accelerate research into the prevention of late-stage age-related macular degeneration with AI learning and drug repurposing technologies. She is also a member of the General Optical Council, the UK regulator of optical professions and businesses.

Before joining the charity sector Cathy worked as a senior journalist at the BBC.
