Jose Mesa is Partner at Columbus Venture Partners, a healthcare venture capital firm based in Valencia with offices in Madrid, Barcelona and Boston.

Driven to impact patients with serious or untreatable diseases through strategic support of innovative healthcare entrepreneurs, Jose combines financial investment, board experience and industry expertise to transform advanced science into life-enhancing products, with a focus on responsible and specialised investing.

Jose is a board member of Arthex Therapeutics and Advanthera Solutions and previously served on the boards of Sanifit (sold to Vifor/CSL), STAT Dx (sold to Qiagen), Minoryx Therapeutics, Aelix and Inbiomotion, among others. Other select investments included Northern Biologics (sold to AZ/Boheringer), DeepUll and Medlumics.

Prior to joining Columbus, Jose was a Partner at Alta Life Sciences and Director of Life Sciences at Caixa Capital Risc, where he launched the life sciences investment vehicles and the CaixaImpulse transfer support programmes.

Jose holds an MSc in Biological Sciences from the Complutense University of Madrid, a Master in Corporate Finance from the Autonomous University of Madrid, an MBA and a PDD from IESE Business School.
