Dr. Miquel Vila-Perelló is a scientist, entrepreneur, and the co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of SpliceBio. With a strong scientific background, he served as a Research Scholar at Princeton University, where he also managed the Protein Center within the Department of Chemistry. Miquel earned his Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from the University of Barcelona and carried out postdoctoral studies at The Rockefeller University in New York, where he conducted pioneering research in chemical biology, notably contributing to the development and application of Expressed Protein Ligation methodologies. Miquel's expertise in intein-based applications for protein chemistry led him to co-found ProteoDesign in 2013, later evolving into the groundbreaking gene therapy company, SpliceBio, where he has served as CEO since its inception. Under his leadership, SpliceBio received notable accolades, including the Series A of the Year at the 2022 European Lifestars Awards and the 2023 CataloniaBio &Health Tech BioExit Award. Miquel is not only an accomplished author with numerous publications, including patent applications but also a proven leader of scientific teams, adept at value creation, and successful fundraising.
