Montserrat Vendrell

Montserrat Vendrell (Barcelona, 1964) is partner at Aliath Bioventures since 2023 and at Alta Life Sciences since 2016. She is Board Director at Peptomyc, Ona Therapeutics, Inbrain Neuroelectronics and Accure therapeutics. Dr. Vendrell has over 10-year experience in biomedical research both in Spanish institutions (CSIC, 1987-1991; 1995-1997) and international companies (Roche Institute of Molecular Biology, 1992-1994), and +20 years in supporting entrepreneurs in life sciences.

Dr.Vendrell was founder and CEO of Biocat, Catalonia biocluster, one of the most successful in Europe (2007-2015). She also chaired the Council of European Bioregions since its birth till 2015. Previously, Montserrat was part of the founding team of Barcelona Science Park, where she was responsible for the design and management of the park, its bioincubator, and technological platforms (Deputy CEO and later, CEO; 1997-2007; 2014-2015).

Dr. Vendrell holds a PhD in Biology from University of Barcelona (1991), a master’s degree in science communication from Pompeu Fabra University (Barcelona, 1997) and an Executive Degree in General Management (PDG IESE Business School, Barcelona, 2007).

Vendrell currently chairs the Executive Committee of the Pasqual Maragall Foundation (Alzheimer’s disease) and the Board of Trustees of UPF (Pompeu Fabra University).
