Dr. Songkai Liu is Head of Business Development at Canton Biologics, where he leads global business development and partnership strategies. With over 13 years of experience spanning R&D, business development, and commercial management across China, Switzerland, and the US, Dr. Liu has worked extensively within international and cross-functional environments. His expertise covers the full spectrum of life sciences and diagnostics, including drug development, CRO/CDMO services, molecular diagnostics, and precision medicine. He has deep insights into emerging technologies and has built extensive networks across commercial channels and industry partners. Throughout his career, Dr. Liu has demonstrated a strong track record of driving business growth, expanding into new territories, and leading cross-border negotiations. He has been instrumental in establishing joint ventures, facilitating large-scale investments, and advising on biopharma and diagnostics investment opportunities. His strategic mindset and ability to adapt quickly have enabled him to successfully penetrate both domestic and international markets. Dr. Liu began his scientific career as a Postdoctoral Fellow in Molecular Neurobiology at the Gladstone Institute of Neurological Disease, University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) , where he conducted research before transitioning into the biopharma industry. He holds a PhD in Molecular Biology from the University of Bern, Switzerland.
