Stephanie Marrus is Managing Director, Entrepreneurship, at the University of California San Francisco (UCSF), the leading scientific research and medical graduate school in the US and ranked #16 among the world’s best universities. She is a Silicon Valley life science/healthcare startup expert who has facilitated the start of numerous companies. A key node in the startup ecosystem, she has a deep network among investors, serial entrepreneurs, CEOs and experts. She created and directs an international course, “Global Life Science/Healthcare Entrepreneurship: Virtual Master Class Direct from Silicon Valley”, reaching six continents and 37 countries since 2020.
She is a Fulbright program participant, a reviewer for the National Institutes of Health and National Science Foundation and serves on committees for the Biotechnology Innovation Organization. She has taught entrepreneurship at UC Berkeley, Stanford and in Europe, Asia and the Americas. She is a member of the US State Department’s International Speaker Program. Her entrepreneurship policy recommendations have been reviewed at the White House. She is a Director of the Bulgarian Government’s Innovation and Growth Board. A frequent conference speaker, she most recently keynoted the Global Entrepreneurship Congress in Australia.
Prior to joining UCSF, she held C-Suite positions in biotechnology companies in Boston and SF. She has been CEO, COO and VP Corporate Development for public and venture capital backed private firms, led partnering and M&A transactions and has headed corporate development, strategy, marketing and communications.
She holds an MBA from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania and an MA from Columbia University.
