Mr. Alayyoubi joined Arcturus Therapeutics in February 2018 as a Scientist II in the Process Development team and has since worked his way to become a Senior Principal Scientist in the RNA Technology and Innovation team. Since then, Arcturus has grown from a small biotech to a commercial-stage pharmaceutical company. He has developed downstream manufacturing processes for liver (OTC) and lung (CF) therapeutic programs both of which are in phase II clinical stage and vaccine programs, one which KOSTAIVE, approved commercially in Japan. Prior to joining Arcturus, Maher worked two years as a Senior Scientist in Pfizer, Pearl River, NY as part of the Bioprocess and Protein Purification team in the Vaccine Research and Development VRD program. Maher was born in Lebanon where he finished his MS degree in Biochemistry at the American University of Beirut, and then moved to the United States where he got his PhD in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the University of Illinois at Chicago. His professional career includes a postdoc at the University of California San Diego and working as a Research Specialist at Northwestern University studying Paramyxoviruses.
