Dr. Weitao Jia is the CMC Lead and Director of Analytical Development and Product Characterization, Pharmaceutical Development and Manufacturing (PDM) at Gilead Sciences. He currently leads early-stage CMC project, providing strategic guidance and cross-functional alignment for the biologics pipeline. Prior to Gilead, Dr. Jia spent nine years at Roche/Genentech, where he served as the CMC Analytical and Characterization Lead, as well as the Global Analytical Technology Transfer Lead for a commercial product. He also worked at Ultragenyx (California, USA) for two years as Director of CMC Analytical, leading late-stage CMC project development. Dr. Jia holds a Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry and has extensive experience in CMC development, having contributed to multiple BLA projects that successfully achieved commercial launch. He has also successfully contributed to numerous Phase I/II/III INDs, IMPDs, and CTAs.
