Frequently Asked Questions
Below you'll find answers to the questions we get asked the most about this Certificate programme.
What do our students gain by taking this course?
At the end of this professional development course and upon successful completion of the assessments, students receive an official digital badge and certificate from Lloyds Maritime Academy to download.
The course carries 21 CPD hours or 2.1 CEUs and this will appear on the certificate itself.
This is the same whether you take the scheduled or on-demand option.
How long do each of the online tests last? What is the assessment process?
There is a multiple-choice online test at the end of each module. 70% has to be achieved to pass the course.
Modules are released fortnightly, and all tests must be passed by the course end date to receive your digital certification.
Can I commence the course earlier/ later than as scheduled?
The course start date is set so it cannot be started earlier, however, we can normally accept late applications up to two weeks after the start date but students will need to catch up. If necessary, we can sometimes offer a short extension at the end of the course to allow students to finish.
Students can also opt to defer to the next course at a small fee.
Will the course run again later this year?
This course only runs once a year so the next intake is scheduled for 2025.
Can I have access to the next module once I have completed the one I am working on?
Each module is released every two weeks as per the schedule you’ll find in your Student Handbook once you enrol.
Can I come to the UK to study the course/ will I get a Visa? Are there any face-to-face seminars?
All interaction with the course is online through the VLE (virtual learning environment). There is no attendance necessary in the UK and we are unable to help with any VISA applications.
