Colin Davies is a graduate in law from the University of Leicester.
Colin is a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of England and Wales and after a short period of time in private practice, joined the Merseyside County Council Prosecuting Solicitors Department transferring to the Crown Prosecution Service on its creation.
Colin held a variety of positions with the CPS, including Crown Prosecutor, Senior Crown Prosecutor, Prosecution Team Leader, Special Casework Lawyer, Acting Head of the Crown Court Branch, Head of the Organised and Complex Casework Section before becoming the Head of the Complex Casework Unit for Mersey / Cheshire.
He was also a Crown Advocate and has prosecuted in the Crown Court, Magistrates Court, and the Youth Court.
Colin specialised in dealing with cases involving Organised Crime Gangs, Cross-Border crime, high profile homicides and complex frauds. He also specialised in covert investigations and developed courses within the CPS which dealt with covert investigations. He also was a member of the International Prosecutors Society and worked closely with Eurojust and Europol on cross-border crime cases.
He was the Disclosure Champion and was involved in the development of the Disclosure Manual and the section on sensitive material. He was also the Proceeds of Crime Champion for Merseyside. He also wrote training courses on homicide, confiscation, and restraint orders. He also delivered training on a variety of topics to CPS Lawyers and Caseworkers as well as delivering training to a number of police forces.
On leaving the CPS, Colin continued to deliver training as a sessional lecturer at LJMU and to both Merseyside Police and Lancashire Police.
Colin developed a stand-alone master’s Module in disclosure which was used as the basis for training on disclosure which is delivered to the RMP.
Colin then joined LJMU as a full time Lecturer in Policing Studies and is the Deputy Programme Lead for the PCDA. He also delivers on the Informa programme.
