Jim Unsworth is a Teaching Fellow within the Liverpool Centre for Advanced Policing Studies and is involved with the teaching across the Informa portfolio. He is currently involved with modules in covert investigations and intelligence.
Prior to working in higher education Jim spent 25 years in covert investigations and intelligence related to serious organised crime affecting the UK. Following an initial grounding in covert investigations Jim advanced to become an Operations Manager responsible for a covert surveillance team within the Serious Organised Crime Agency (SOCA). This was followed with an appointment as Operations Manager for an intelligence gathering team within the National Crime Agency (NCA).
Jim progressed to become the NCA’s International Liaison Officer to Romania which involved working with the Romanian authorities and international partners to obtain knowledge of Romanian nationals involved in serious organise crime affecting the UK. In his last posting before retirement from the NCA, Jim was appointed International Liaison Officer to Bosnia and Herzegovina tasked with opening the NCA’s first office in Sarajevo.
Jim is currently undertaking post graduate studies in covert investigations at Liverpool John Moores University.
