Budha is a highly experienced ports, shipping and logistics professional who has worked in port and terminal management since 1976, and most recently in the training and education of future port professionals and as a Port Consultant. During his career he has worked in the departments of marine, cargo operations, corporate planning and central executive, gaining a broad experience and knowledge of the global ports industry and the needs of the customers they serve.
Most recently, Budha was General Manager and CEO of a newly won container terminal concession in Tartous, Syria where he set up a local company, obtained all necessary Government approvals and successfully established Syria’s first specialised private sector container terminal on behalf of International Container Terminal Services Inc (ICTSI).
Previous to this Budha was Managing Director of Mersey Docks and Harbour Company, and was responsible for merging the activities of the Port of Liverpool with that of the Manchester Ship Canal.
Budha has also worked for Associated British Ports (ABP), including being the Port Director of their South Wales Ports, Regional Manager North-West Ports and a member of the ABP Board of Directors, and Port Director of Short Sea Ports. During his tenure, Budha was responsible for a number of major developments, including setting up the P&O ferry terminal in Troon, and the building of a silo complex in King’s Lynn, which is the most modern and versatile grain facility of its kind in the UK.
His considerable experience included running the UK’s largest grain terminal, briefly managing a shipping line, as well as being part of the team which established the largest and most successful Freeport in the UK.
Budha is a Master Mariner and has worked on overseas consultancy projects, including advising on port planning and marketing for the Port of Mundra in Gujarat India, and on the development of new terminals in North America and in the Middle East.
