Daniel YarkerCourse Speaker at Lloyd's Maritime AcademyTrainer
Profile
Daniel spent over 30 years on ships and at sea progressing from Junior Deck Hand to Master Mariner. During his final years at sea, he studied for and attained a Master’s in Business Administration (MBA). He also spent several years working with the UK government on Resilience and therefore is very experienced in planning and executing Emergency Preparedness, from all levels. On coming ashore Daniel established his own maritime consultancy firm, initially teaching, training and mentoring Harbour Masters, Pilots, Tug Masters and Hydrographic Surveyors. Wanting to extend his portfolio he then progressed into conducting port navigation risk assessments in accordance with the IMO Formal Safety Assessment (FSA) guidelines for a number of ports. Then utilising full mission bridge simulators, he moved on and carried out numerous navigational risk assessment exercises for major maritime organisations. This was in support of research and devolvement for proposed new jetties, quays, harbour port development alongside with new vessel designs and their capabilities.
Now fully retired he is enjoying his key passions in life, that is following Preston North End football club and serious black-and-white photography.
