Kevin has over 40 years operational experience in the marine industry both ashore and afloat. He spent 18 years deep sea in the reefer trades before coming ashore in 1986. He moved to Dover to work for the port in 1987, culminating in the position of Chief Harbour Master in 2011 from which he retired at the end of March 2014. During his time at Dover, Kevin carried out a wide variety of roles in all areas of port operations, including VTS and terminal management. As Chief Harbour Master, Kevin was responsible for all areas of marine compliance, including safety of navigation, port security and the management of the marine environment. He maintains that the efficient management of safety, security and the environment have many similarities and are absolutely essential in today’s ports industry.
