Nicola is Group Manager for HR Wallingford’s Environment Group. She has a background in marine environmental science and legislation with more than 11 years experience of working in the maritime sector.
Nicola joined HR Wallingford after 6.5 years at the Port of London Authority (PLA) where she held the position of River Regime and Environment Manager. Nicola was responsible for ensuring that PLA's operational and regulatory duties complied with environmental legislation and also for confirming as acceptable the environmental impacts of all developments on the Tidal Thames.
Nicola also represented the UK ports industry on National and European legislation and initiatives. Prior to joining PLA she worked as an EIA Project Manager for Royal Haskoning and was involved in developing the renewables work area.
As Marine Consents Manger at MAFF (now Defra), Nicola headed one of the two FEPA Licensing Teams and was responsible for the issuing of licences for dredging disposal and marine developments around the coast of England and Wales. During her time at CEFAS Nicola advised government on the environmental impacts of dredging and disposal operations and marine construction projects.
