Dorus Bakker is Financial Director for the Porthos project as of May 2023. He has been involved in the Porthos project in different roles since 2018. In his current capacity, he is entrusted with the responsibility of the company's long-term financial well-being and fostering growth. Next to the financial role he is responsible for Human Resources, IT and Quality Control within the project. Dorus started his career in 2012 at MTBS, a finance and business strategy consultant in the port and transport sector. After working on international advisory projects in Europe, Africa, Asia and the Middle East, he joined Port of Rotterdam. At Port of Rotterdam he worked in several financial and commercial roles for energy transition projects. The Porthos system will transport about 2.5 million tonnes of CO₂ annually from industrial emitters in the Port of Rotterdam to depleted gas fields under the North Sea, ultimately storing 37 million tonnes over 15 years. Construction of the Porthos infrastructure began in 2024, and operations are scheduled to commence in 2026.
