Gunnar has held a variety of strategic, legal and regulatory roles in gas production, trading and supply as well as in transmission companies. From senior management positions in government and regulatory affairs he has helped companies and associations to understand the impact of regulatory change, to implement changes effectively, and to represent their interests in designing energy and carbon market rules.

During and after the liberalization of European gas markets, Gunnar has worked for RUHRGAS Transport (now Open Grid Europe), E.ON Energy Trading and UNIPER Global Commodities, contributing to the design and implementation of EU Gas Market Legislation and Network Codes. In 2018 Gunnar founded ENQUIDITY, a boutique consultancy firm supporting industry and governments in energy market rules, focusing on LNG and the role of gases in energy system transition. He is advising Eurogas on global gas trading and on EU regulation relevant for supply security, renewable and low-carbon gases.
