Profile
Dr. Irina Kustova is Head of the Energy Programme at the Centre for European Policy Studies (CEPS) in Brussels. Expert in energy and climate policy with over ten years of professional experience, Irina provided research and advisory services to various public institutions and international organisations. She was part, inter alia, of the CEPS team conducting studies on the electricity market design, the gas package reform, and decarbonisation efforts in renewable hydrogen uptake, as well as various decarbonisation technologies, including offshore wind and CCS.
Her analysis and expert opinion are frequently sought after by prominent media outlets and academic institutions. Irina is a published author in refereed journals and a regular speaker at conferences and events of inter alia Euractiv, FT, and the Clean Energy Summit. Before joining CEPS, she conducted consultancy work, as well as held several assignments at the Energy Charter Secretariat and a traineeship at ACER. Irina holds a Ph.D. in International Studies cum laude from University of Trento (Italy), an MA in European Studies from Maastricht University (Netherlands).
