The German Association of Energy and Water Industries (BDEW), Berlin, and its regional organizations represent more than 2,000 companies. Its members range from local and municipal to regional and supraregional companies. They represent around 90 percent of electricity sales and a around 60 percent of local and district heating sales, over 90 percent of natural gas sales, over 95 percent of energy networks, 80 percent of drinking water production, and around one-third of wastewater disposal in Germany.
