Dr James Ryan is a management scholar with more than 20 years of international experience in teaching, research, and consulting. He specializes in issues relating to workplace behavior and human resource management. He holds a B.Sc. and M.A. from University College Dublin, and a PhD from Dublin City University, Ireland.

Dr James has published impactful research in leading academic journals such as Research Policy, Journal of Business Ethics, & Journal of Business Research, among others. He has worked in higher education in the Gulf region since 2008, as well as previously working with diverse student populations in New Zealand and his home country of Ireland. Throughout his career, he has been awarded several teaching and research awards at national, institutional, and departmental levels.

Dr James teaches across the HR functions with particular teaching and research interests in performance management issues, and staff hiring and retention challenges. He is an editorial advisory board member of several academic journals and a Government of Ireland Scholar.
