Mr Freiberg is a German public auditor and a Member of the Executive Board of BDO Germany.
He has been a member of the IFRS Advisory Council on behalf of BDO International and was a member of the Transition Resource Group for IFRS 17.
He was also a member of the IFRS Committee of the Accounting Standard Committee of Germany (DRSC).
He is author of many articles on current issues concerning international financial reporting and author/co-editor of a German Commentary on IFRS by Haufe publishers (21th edition 2024) as well co-editor of a German Commentary on ESRS by HAUFE publishers (1st edition 2023).

He was appointed to the IFRS Interpretations Committee in in March 2020 and has been reappointed to serve a second term in July 2022.
