Brian leads AI strategy at Excelsior Sciences, where he focuses on developing active learning loops, building predictive models, and helping close the design-make-test-analyze loop for faster, smarter drug discovery. He also plays a key role in building and mentoring a world-class AI and data sciences team, ensuring that innovation is grounded in collaboration and real-world impact.

Brian earned his PhD in Chemistry with an emphasis in Computer Science from the University of California, Santa Cruz. He spent over 20 years at Vertex Pharmaceuticals, where he led methods development across a range of applications. He later served as VP of AI at both ZebiAI and Relay Therapeutics, advancing AI methods for early drug discovery.

With over 25 years of experience in machine learning applied to drug discovery, Brian brings deep technical expertise and a pragmatic mindset to building real-world drug discovery platforms.
