David Bauer is the Head of Life Sciences Licensing and Collaborations at Davis Polk. With a bioscience-related Ph.D., David has extensive experience advising clients in the pharma, biotech and medtech industries. He advises clients on a wide range of IP and technology-related corporate and commercial transactions, including licensing and collaboration agreements, R&D agreements, supply and distribution agreements, and other strategic commercial and partnering agreements.

David is a 2023 Law360 “Life Sciences MVP of the Year” and ranked among the leading lawyers in Life Sciences transactions by both Chambers USA and IAM Patent 1000. Law360 awarded Davis Polk’s Life Sciences practice “Practice Group of the Year” in 2025.

David earned a Ph.D. and B.S. from Cornell University and a J.D. from Fordham University School of Law.
