Chris Girardo, DO, MHI is a pathologist and clinical informaticist at Ochsner Health in New Orleans, where he is an actively practicing anatomic pathologist and also serves as Assistant Chief Medical Information Officer and Physician Lead for Digital Pathology. He is board certified in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology and Clinical Informatics.
One of his current passions centers on working with biotech startup to get promising innovations out of the lab and into clinical practice. He is involved a new pipeline at Ochsner which utilizes Strategic Research Partnership Liaisons to connect biotech startups with the health system to clinically test and validate their technologies in a real-world setting, helping companies understand what it actually takes to move from proof of concept to routine use.
His broader interests include AI-driven screening algorithms for adverse clinical outcomes in hospitalized patients, digital pathology, and EHR-integrated clinical decision support.
