How much time will I need to study?
The MBA as a postgraduate qualification requires a significant time commitment. The approximate time required for you to successfully study the learning materials, complete further reading and submit assessments is up to 75 hours per month, with some gaps over holiday periods and between modules. Whilst initially this sounds a lot, experience shows that students who are established, mature professionals reduce this time by utilising skills and knowledge already gleaned through their working lives. It is likely that you will be familiar with some subject areas allowing you to pass quickly through the materials; others will take longer. The nature of distance education requires you to adopt a disciplined and independent approach to your studies and you will need good time management skills to effectively manage your time commitments.
What are my computing requirements?
You will need to have a PC or Mac that has a good internet reception and a capacity to access and download substantial content (preferably via broadband reception), with an up-to-date internet browser, standard desktop office packages such as Open Office or MS Office, video facility (webcam), microphone and earphones for audio recording and playback. Operating platform should be Windows 97 or higher for PCs, or OS 10.4 or higher for Macs.
I don't have an academic qualification. Will I be able to apply?
To apply for this course you will need to have passed one of the eligible Diploma Courses in this list. This MBA is a top up for students who have previously passed the Diploma.
How can I be assured that the MBA at Middlesex University is a high quality course?
To ensure the high standards and quality of the MBA, it is subject to the University’s academic quality assurance procedures (which include those procedures related to programme approval, monitoring and review). A key feature of these processes is the input from external subject experts who ensure that awards of Middlesex are comparable to those of other UK universities, and that the programme curriculum, teaching, assessment and resources are appropriate. Middlesex University, and its programmes, are subject to periodic audit or review by external quality agencies such as the Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (QAA). These audits and reviews place confidence in the quality and standards of provision as operated at Middlesex University. The most recent QAA audit of quality and standards of Middlesex University awards, conducted in 2009, was of those programmes delivered with collaborative partners. The University was awarded the highest level judgement that can be awarded. QAA review and audit reports can be viewed on the QAA website at: www.qaa.ac.uk.

Will I have to be online at specific times?
Communication with your support team and fellow students can be conducted asynchronously, meaning there is no component which requires you to be online at a specific time. Of course, you may choose to interact with tutors, syndicate members and module leaders at any time using the online communication systems, and you will be encouraged to do so regularly.
Will there be any on-campus seminars or residential workshops?
No. This MBA requires absolutely no travel or attendance at on-site seminars or residential workshops. All the course content, syndicate discussions, networking and assessment is managed online.
Will I be guaranteed a job when I graduate?
Guarantees are unrealistic. However you will certainly be in a more advantageous position, as an MBA graduate is often viewed far more favourably by employers. Middlesex MBA graduates are very successful in progressing to higher achieving careers. Additionally, as this MBA is delivered by part-time distance learning, you will not have had to take time out from your current job in order to undertake your study, thus allowing you to gain valuable experience as you learn. Promotion after graduation is fairly common.
