André Michel Vargas is the Chief Data Officer at leading entertainment and sports agency Creative Artists Agency (CAA). With more than 24 years of experience in complex program delivery and analytics, André is responsible for the overall vision, strategy, and roadmap of CAA’s industry-leading data intelligence division known as CAA Data. Its teams focus on Engineering, Science, Analytics, Management, and Insights, and each branch plays an integral role in giving CAA an unmatched competitive advantage in understanding talent, buyers, and audiences, as well as furthering the agency’s commitment to making data-driven decisions.

In 2017, the agency empowered CAA Data under André’s leadership to build an in-house data and analytics platform, CAA Intell, which taps into first- and third-party data sources to produce actionable information. Since launching, CAA Intell’s suite of programs has elevated the agency’s ability to service clients by using data to match brand opportunities, analyze audience engagement and digital presence, aggregate box office data, and beyond.

Taking its effective integration and expertise beyond the agency walls, CAA Data has trailblazed through the wider entertainment industry to ensure “data is in the room” when impactful decisions are being made by key players regarding diversity, inclusion, and representation.

Continuing to find new ways to deliver valuable intelligence to the agency, CAA Data serves as the nexus point between the arts and sciences in Hollywood and has received the CIO’s Digital Edge Award and the Business Intelligence Group Innovation Award, as well as recognition in publications such as Forbes, LA Times, and The New York Times.

Prior to joining CAA in 2011, André worked in management consulting at PA Consulting Group, where he was the Head of Business Intelligence & Analytics for North America. His team focused on the delivery of large complex technology programs and implementing business intelligence and analytics for companies in Europe and the U.S. for a diverse range of industries including healthcare, telecommunications, utilities, and media & entertainment.

André received his master’s degree in economics from the University of Copenhagen in Denmark.
