Profile
Scott Armstrong is the founder of mentl, a regional mental health and wellbeing platform created to help people, companies and communities have more honest conversations about mental health. Through content, podcasts, campaigns, live events, awards, research and consultancy, mentl works to make difficult subjects feel more human, accessible and actionable.
At the heart of the work is a simple belief: stories can change how people think, what they feel able to say, and the support they believe they deserve. mentl brings together leaders, experts, employers and people with lived experience to challenge silence, reduce stigma and help organisations think more deeply about wellbeing, culture and care.
Scott is also the founder and creator of the mentl awards, which have become a regional gathering point for organisations working to improve workplace mental health. The awards are designed not just to recognise good work, but to help raise standards, share learning and keep the conversation moving.
Before founding mentl, Scott spent many years in journalism and media, including senior editorial roles across the UAE, Oman, the UK and the Bahamas. That background still shapes his work today: asking better questions, listening carefully, finding the human truth in complex issues, and telling stories in ways people can connect with.
In 2025, Scott received the MEPRA Chairman’s Award for advancing mental health advocacy. As a judge for this year’s MEPRA Awards, he brings a perspective shaped by journalism, communications, advocacy and a deep commitment to work that has real human impact.
