Competition Law & the Digital Economy
You are invited to join an insightful, online discussion hosted by Course Director Alison Jones & Kings College London.
The purpose of the webinar is to discuss issues relating to competition law in the digital economy. It will focus on the question of how Article 102 TFEU (one of the three main pillars of EU competition law) has been developed to apply to new businesses and business practices arising in the rapidly developing digital economy, focusing on the Google Shopping case as an example. It will also discuss why, despite a number of competition law actions against Big Tech firms, including Google, Amazon, Meta, and Apple, the EU institutions decided to adopt the Digital Markets Act, an ex ante regulatory regime governing the behaviour of designated gatekeepers that provide core platform services.
