Brenda Lum is Managing Director, North American Corporate Real Estate at DBRS Morningstar. Since assuming this role in 2014, Brenda spearheads the North American corporate ratings and analytical franchise, with debt ratings in the US and Canada.

Brenda joined DBRS in 2000 as a Vice President in the Financial Institutions Group and has held progressively senior positions. Prior to her current role, Brenda was Managing Director, Canadian Financial Institutions Group in 2005, where she oversaw the ratings, analysis and methodology development for the Canadian Banking, Insurance and Non-Bank Financial sectors. Following this role, she was overseeing the North American Real Estate and Canadian Public Finance as Managing Director, Corporate Finance in 2014.

Prior to joining DBRS, Brenda was Director, Equity Research at CIBC World Markets (CIBC). Brenda joined CIBC from Pricewaterhouse (now Pricewaterhouse Coopers), where she specialized in the audit and review of financial services institutions in the United States and Canada.

Brenda is a CFA charter holder and a member of the CFA Society Toronto. She is also a Chartered Professional Accountant and a member of the Chartered Professional Accountants of Ontario. Brenda holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Toronto, where she specialized in accounting and finance.
