Profile

With over twenty-five years of business experience, Carl Gomez is a well-known Canadian economist and respected investment professional specializing in real estate. He was appointed to the leadership team of Centurion Asset Management as Chief Economist and Executive Vice President of Research in January 2026 and is responsible for providing valuable economic insight to support strategy, capital allocation, and operational planning across the firm’s platform.


Carl formerly served as Chief Economist and Head of Market Analytics at CoStar Group, where he led the firm’s analytics platform in Canada. Before that, he held the position of Senior Vice President, Research & Strategy for QuadReal Property Group, a global real estate investment, development, and property management company.


Carl also worked for over a decade at Bentall Kennedy (now BGO) as a partner and Senior Vice President. In that role, Carl provided management and clients of the firm with strategic insight into the impact of emerging macroeconomic and capital market forces on real estate investment markets in North America.


Earlier in his career, Carl worked on Bay Street as a Senior Economist, first with RBC Financial Group and then with TD Bank Financial Group. In both capacities, he specialized in macroeconomic forecasting and real estate market analysis. He was, and continues to be, a nationally recognized speaker and media commentator on financial issues and real estate-related developments, with his views featured in The Globe & Mail, Financial Post, Bloomberg, The Wall Street Journal, and CBC News, among others.


Carl began his career in Vancouver, where he held the position of B.C. Regional Economist with the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC). He also occasionally lectured on demographic-based forecasting methods at Simon Fraser University.


Carl holds an M.A. in Financial Economics from the University of Victoria and an Honours B.A. (Economics) from the University of Western Ontario. Carl has been an active board member of the Toronto Association of Business Economists and has served as a part-time lecturer at the Schulich Business School.
