Richard Baillie is the Vice President & Senior Managing Director, Head of Manulife’s Canadian Real Estate Finance Group. Appointed to his role in 2019, Richard oversees the ~$14.5 billion Canadian loan portfolio and is accountable for Manulife’s ~$2 billion annual commercial loan production volume, risk adjusted returns, strategy/product design and credit experience via seven regional offices and 20+ origination professionals.
Prior to this, Richard served as the Managing Director of the company’s flagship Toronto office.
Prior to joining Manulife, Richard worked for several years at Sun Life, where he served in several progressively senior positions culminating his Sun Life career as Co-Regional Director of their Ontario Mortgage Investment Office.
Richard is an active member of many industry associations including NAIOP, Realpac, CREFC and the Mortgage Bankers Association and is a regular speaker at industry events.
