Alex O’Donnell is a seasoned risk management executive with deep expertise in operational resiliency, enterprise risk, third party risk and crisis management across both the private and public sectors. In his current role as Vice President of Risk Management at Payments Canada, he plays a pivotal role in transforming the organization’s enterprise risk strategy, strengthening its risk culture and implementing frameworks that have significantly enhanced confidence among regulators and key stakeholders.
Prior to joining Payments Canada, Alex held various leadership positions at Scotiabank and the Bank of Montreal. He is recognized for his collaborative approach and ability to lead high-performing teams grounded in a culture of delivery, autonomy, integrity and engagement.
Alex earned his Master of Business Administration from Gannon University in the United States, where he also completed his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration while excelling as a five-year member of the Gannon University American football team. He holds certification from the Business Continuity Institute.
