Chiara Francesca Capelli is Head of the Group Internal Validation department at UniCredit Group. At UniCredit, the Group validation function also develops and manages the model risk management framework, and it operates internationally, playing a steering role across the Group’s various companies.

Chiara has over twenty years of experience in Risk Management at UniCredit. Over the years, she developed the Group’s first Credit VaR model, played an active part in the transition to AIRB, and was a key figure in transforming the Group development function from a structure with an Italian focus into an international function with an important governance and control role.

In her current role, she has enthusiastically taken on the challenge of leading the validation function, which cuts across all risk types, through the transformation required by recent regulatory and business trends. These include the challenges linked to the ever-wider adoption of Artificial Intelligence and the evolution of the model risk management framework.
