As the Team Leader for the EU-wide stress test at the European Banking Authority (EBA) since 2019, Dragan has spearheaded numerous critical initiatives and coordinated comprehensive exercises to ensure the resilience of European banks. His leadership was pivotal in the 2021 and 2023 stress tests, and he is currently overseeing the latest 2025 iteration. His role involves strategic enhancements to the stress test framework, revising SREP and Pillar 2 Guidance, covering multiple risk areas including the macroeconomic scenario, and overseeing the development of top-down stress testing models. With extensive experience in risk analysis, he maintains active dialogue with supervisors, banks, and financial market participants to create a robust and relevant stress testing environment.
Beyond stress testing, Dragan has contributed to key risk assessment products, including the EBA risk assessment reports and risk dashboards, thereby strengthening the EBA’s risk evaluation capabilities. He has also been involved in international multi-agency initiatives, such as finding solutions for EU banks’ non-performing loans (NPL) issues and contributing to the ECB Guidance on NPLs.
Before joining the EBA, Dragan was a Risk Analyst at a commercial bank, managing risk analysis for financial institutions and public finance for various markets and participating in the bank’s restructuring and development of structured assets valuation tools. As a Bank Operations Analyst at the Bank of Slovenia, he gained familiarity with the Euro area monetary policy and central bank risk management. His career began as a Junior Auditor at Deloitte in Vienna, where he audited financial statements and internal controls for financial institutions.
Dragan is a CFA Charterholder and is currently finalising his PhD thesis in the field of climate transition macroeconomic modelling.
