Elina Aartola-Mäkelä

Elina Aartola-Mäkelä is the Head of Model Risk & Validation at Nordea and the chair of the Model Risk Committee, with previous leader roles in the areas of Credit and AML Risk.

She has an extensive experience from the financial field, including a CRO and Head of Risk and Compliance role in another bank in the Nordics, as well as senior positions in a multilateral bank, private equity and business consulting.

During her career, Elina has also held a position of a Head of Division in the Finnish Financial Supervisory Authority and gained valuable regulatory insight in the CEBS working groups. She holds a degree of a Master of Science in Industrial Engineering and Management from the Aalto University, and balances her interest towards numbers with arts and handcrafts.
