Sam Thomas is a barrister at 2BR, and is the co-author of Cyber Security: Law and Practice (LexisNexis: 2019) and Blockchain and Cryptocurrency: International Legal and Regulatory Challenges (Bloomsbury: 2021). Sam sits on the Bar Council IT Panel and is the Chair of the Association of Regulatory and Disciplinary Lawyers (ARDL). Sam’s practice encompasses advocacy and advice in cyber compliance and regulatory law, for which he was recognised by Chambers & Partners and the Legal 500 as a leading junior, 2021-2024. Sam is the Head of the Regulatory Group at 2BR which was nominated for the Legal 500 Professional Discipline Set of the Year 2024. Sam was nominated, personally, in the same category, for the Legal 500 Junior of the Year 2024. He is included on the Attorney General’s Panel of Advocates and, as such, advises Government Departments including HMRC, the CPS, and the Cabinet Office in relation to data management. Sam writes a quarterly article on cyber law for Counsel Magazine. The last article addressed the risk and benefits of Artificial Intelligence.
