Sara Saab heads Wells Fargo’s Regulatory Interpretations Team (RIT), a specialized group providing strategic guidance on the application of complex banking regulations and promoting consistent, well-reasoned interpretations across the organization. Her team partners closely with business, risk, and finance stakeholders on complex regulatory capital and reporting matters and drives regulatory advocacy on proposed rules alongside key firm-wide stakeholders and industry groups. Her work helps shape policy positions, support well-informed, data-driven outcomes, and identify opportunities to optimize capital within the regulatory framework.
Previously, Sara spent over ten years at the Federal Reserve Board’s Division of Supervision & Regulation, where she led domestic and international working groups shaping US rulemakings and Basel policy frameworks. Her work focused on market risk capital (FRTB), counterparty credit risk (SA-CCR), and related capital reforms, collaborating across central banks, US regulatory agencies, and internal Federal Reserve teams. She regularly briefed senior Federal Reserve leadership, including the Vice Chair for Supervision, on the capital and policy implications of proposed rules. Prior to that, Sara consulted at Freddie Mac, combining financial and technological expertise to support the Multifamily Capital Markets group, and has also built valuation and project finance models for global acquisitions.
