Sheldon Lacy is Group Chief Risk Officer at Canopius, one of the world’s leading specialty and P&C (re)insurance groups. He leads the Group Risk and Compliance function and oversees the enterprise risk management framework while ensuring a robust compliance and regulatory framework across Canopius’ global operations.
As a member of the Group Leadership Team, Sheldon works closely with the Board and executive management to support strategic decision-making, define risk appetite and oversee the effective management of financial, insurance, operational and emerging risks. His experience spans risk management, compliance, regulatory engagement, exposure management and operational resilience.
Before joining Canopius in 2019, Sheldon served as Managing Director and Board Member of AmTrust Syndicates Limited, where he had previously been Chief Risk Officer. His earlier roles included Group Risk Director at Validus Holdings and Head of Risk at Talbot Underwriting, as well as senior risk positions at RSA, Lloyds TSB and HBOS. He holds a Master of Physics from the University of Hull.
