Shiro brings more than three decades of professional experience in financial services. He currently serves as Group Chief Risk Officer of Mizuho Financial Group, Inc. and serves on the Board of Directors of Mizuho Bank, Ltd. Over the course of his career, he has held important positions across corporate banking in the United States and Japan, as well as domestic retail banking, and has played a central role in formulating and executing Mizuho’s strategy both in Japan and globally. He has led Mizuho’s strategic acquisitions and equity investments, advancing the group’s long-term growth agenda. Beyond Mizuho, he has extensive experience representing the industry as Chief of Staff at the Japanese Bankers Association. In addition to his current CRO mandate, Shiro previously served as Mizuho Bank’s Global Chief Audit Executive - a role that further attests to his rigorous expertise in risk management, governance, and controls.
