Stefan joined DWS in 2016 following eight years in the financial services industry, including as a Senior Manager at KPMG, where he advised asset managers and banks on risk management, valuation, regulatory implementation, and transformation. During his time at DWS, he has held a range of leadership positions across Risk Management and the Product Division. Prior to becoming CRO in 2026, he led the DWS Controls Office, overseeing controls management across the First Line of Defence, as well as the firm's Platform Sustainability function.

Stefan holds a master’s degree in Business Mathematics (Diplom-Wirtschaftsmathematiker) and a PhD in Mathematics.
