Profile
Mayor Mike Bradley was first elected to Sarnia Council in 1985 and became Mayor in 1988. In 2022, he was re-elected for an 11th term, making him one of the longest-serving mayors in Canada. Prior to his time in municipal politics, he served as Executive Assistant to the late Hon. Justice Bud Cullen, MP for Sarnia–Lambton (1980–1985). Mayor Bradley currently serves as Chair of the County of Lambton Community Development Corporation, supporting regional innovation and economic development.
Throughout his career, he has championed civil liberties, public safety, and environmental protection, while also advocating on a wide range of social and economic issues. His contributions have been recognized with the Queen’s Golden Jubilee Medal and the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal for significant service to Canada.
Mayor Bradley appeared in Michael Moore’s documentary Bowling for Columbine and, as a long-time Bruce Springsteen fan, contributed to two books about the artist—For You (2007) and The Light in the Darkness (2009) by Lawrence Kirsch.
He is a frequent media commentator on local, provincial, national, and international issues. In 2025, he has been prominently featured in media coverage for his active role in discussions on tariffs and U.S.–Canada relations. He continues to advocate for awareness of the potential economic impacts on Canadian communities, particularly border cities, and emphasizes the need for federal support and strategic solutions. His appearances on major outlets such as CBC, CTV, CNN, and CBC’s The Fifth Estate underscore his commitment to ensuring the voices of local communities are heard on the national stage.
