Norm Schleehahn has been the City of Hamilton’s Director of Economic Development since March 2020. He leads one of the most respected and accomplished Economic Development Offices in Canada whose mission is to serve as a catalyst for continued economic growth, job creation, and revitalization in Hamilton. An economic development professional for over 30 years, Norm has built a career working with a vast range of investments- from the smallest startups to the largest Fortune 100 corporations. During this time, his work has involved facilitating tens of millions of square feet of new and redeveloped non-residential facilities which have in turn provided thousands of new and retained jobs within the City of Hamilton. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Norm co-ordinated the City of Hamilton’s multi-year economic recovery plan (The Mayor’s Task Force on Economic Recovery) and also led the development of the City’s 2021-2025 Economic Development Action Plan which is now entering its third year of implementation.
