Profile
Maarten Biermans is a partner at PROW Capital where he is responsible for ESG related matters for its EUR 420m private debt fund focussed on asset backed finance for decarbonisation. Previously he worked at Rabobank as its head of ESG policy and subsequently as its Global Head of Sustainable Finance. Before joining Rabobank, Maarten worked as a strategy consultant at Spring Associates specializing in Responsible Investing within alternative asset classes. During this time he advised various GPs as well as LPs on ESG related matters.
He holds dual Master degrees in Economics and Philosophy, both from the University of Amsterdam, where he also obtained his PhD in Economics. While working on his dissertation, he was a visiting scholar at Stanford University.
Maarten is on the impact board of Convent Capital and a member of the Human Rights committee of the Dutch Advisory Council on International Affairs, an advisory body for the Dutch Government and Parliament. He teaches a course on Sustainable Finance and Impact Investing at the Amsterdam Business School. He collects old books and is a dedicated fan of Bob Dylan.
