Dr Somayeh Taheri is the co-Founder, CEO, and Chief Architect of UrbanChain, the company building the operating system for distributed commodity markets.

A former research scientist at the University of Manchester, she founded UrbanChain in 2017 and has grown the business from a three-person startup to a market infrastructure platform supporting more than £1 billion in live contract value.

Through its UC Market operating system, UrbanChain enables new commodity markets across energy and infrastructure, helping organisations unlock value from distributed assets, emerging technologies, and next-generation business models.

Dr Taheri is passionate about building the digital infrastructure that will underpin the future of global commodity markets.
