Doug Fuerst is an Executive Director in Drug Substance Development at GSK. Doug leads the Enzyme Engineering and Biocatalysis department responsible for the discovery and development of novel enzyme-based processes for pharmaceutical manufacture. Doug holds a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from Yale University and has completed postdoctoral studies in organocatalysis at Harvard University. His recent work focuses on leading internal oligonucleotide strategy drug substance efforts spanning enzymatic, liquid phase, and solid phase synthesis approaches, with an emphasis on developing novel convergent enzyme-catalyzed approaches for oligonucleotide manufacture.
