Hien T. Zhao, PhD, is Vice President of Neuroscience Research at Ionis Pharmaceuticals, where she leads antisense oligonucleotide-based therapeutic discovery for neurodegenerative and neurological disorders. Her work spans applications of antisense oligonucleotides in preclinical models of Parkinson’s disease, prion disease, peripheral neuropathies, and related conditions. She is an inventor on multiple patents for RNA-lowering therapeutics targeting disease-relevant genes. Dr. Zhao’s research has contributed to validating RNA-targeted approaches as promising strategies for treating CNS diseases.
